Two of Texas’ most dynamic cities sit surrounded by a landscape of tranquil lakes in a region packed with numerous cultural attractions and activities for all ages.

North Central Texas is dominated by the two cities of Dallas and Fort Worth, which blend into one another to form a vast urban area full of artistic neighborhoods and things to do. Head outside of the Dallas-Fort Worth area to find a quieter corner of Texas, with dozens of large lakes offering watersports, hiking and fishing.

Take your pick of historical sites in the region according to whichever era interests you. Embark on a Bonnie and Clyde tour to learn about the 1930s gangsters, roam about the Log Cabin Village to experience 19th-century life and read about John F. Kennedy’s legacy and life in the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza.

Lively Dallas is packed with cultural hotspots, many located in the thriving Dallas Arts District. Enjoy a concert at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center, marvel at masterworks in the Dallas Museum of Art or wander through the exhibition halls of the Nasher Sculpture Center.

Elsewhere, the city hosts thoughtful museums such as the Dallas Holocaust Museum and the African American Museum of Dallas. Secure a ticket to a Dallas Cowboys football game at the AT&T Stadium for the complete Dallas experience.

Neighboring Fort Worth offers a slightly slower pace of life. The Stockyards Historic District features cowboy rodeos, cattle herding and rustic wooden buildings. Enjoy the tranquility of the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens or admire the dazzling variety of American paintings and sculptures in the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth and the Amon Carter Museum of American Art.

Leave the cities behind to discover the numerous lakes of North Central Texas. Lake Texoma, on the border with Oklahoma, is frequented by fishing and boating enthusiasts, while Lake Lewisville is the place to be for watersports and evenings spent drifting in boats with a group of friends.

Dallas-Fort Worth Airport is one of the busiest airports in the U.S., which means that numerous flights arrive daily from around the country. Fly here, then rent a car to reach the lakes outside of the cities or use the local transportation systems to find your way around.
