"Great stay for a night "

"This Ryokan Style Hotel was an amazing surprise to our journey through Japan! The hotel is very well maintained with super amazing mountain and river views, and their Onsen are top notch with super high quality amenities! The food is really amazing and plentiful, I recommend booking with the Half board option to get both the breakfast and the dinner (kaiseki style). They are served on a private room on either the second or first floor. I do recommend contacting them in advance (or even prior to booking) in case you have a food allergy; they will make their best effort to accommodate if the allergy is 'simple' but won't be able to accommodate if its something more complex like 'gluten allergy', they do specify that in their web page though so do your research prior instead of trying to bash them out with bad reviews. I have a shellfish allergy and they provided other options for me to still have the experience so I am very gretful for that. The service is quite amazing and welcoming, they have english speaking staff which greatly helps to us foreign visitors. They offer a free shuttle from and to the JR and Bus stations, they have their schedule on their official web page but you could contact them in advance to review prior to your travel. Really recommend this hotel and would like to come back on another season to try different food and views! "

"Just a tip for those like us who are new to "no-receptionist check-in" stay-in/hotel/motel, make sure to check your email for the Room Number and Security Code. We got our "room information" via email, sent two days before the start of our stay. I highly suggest to arrive at location and check-in as early as allowed to give ample time to rectify any issues, and to pre-register/check-in. For example, in our case, we booked this December 2024 and it's snowing in Nikko, we arrived at our room around 6:30 PM and it's really cold. Without the room code, or if there was an issue, we could have been stranded out in the open. This place is walkable from the two train stations: the JR Nikko Station and the Tobu Nikko Station. It is a lot closer to JR Nikko Station, by about 2 min walk so it's still a good 10min-15min walk from either stations. If you have a lot of luggages (or really heavy ones), I recommend to book a taxi to get to the location since the path/road has a lot of uneven areas. There is a nearby 7-Eleven that is open 24hrs, it's a decent store and have available food, drinks and other essential amenities. The place is clean, great onsen, decent kitchen, nice shower. My only complaint is the isolated toilet, as there is no separate faucet that has "warm" water for washing hands. In our room, the "faucet" is built to the toilet bowl, and water pours down during the flush but it is so cold, and the faucet stops after the flushing stops."

"Nikko Cottage FU-SHA is a delightful retro authentic Japanese accommodation experience. The very kind, helpful & friendly host picked us up from the train & dropped us back on our departure day. We found the cottage to be in a beautiful location in a residential area, with comfortable traditional Japanese beds, a room for our luggage, fully outfitted kitchen with breakfast foods provided. The bathroom was very large and well equipped. We walked to lovely local eating options of restaurants & cafes and walked to the World Heritage shrines and temples of Nikko, which together with their natural surroundings was an amazing experience. We loved our 2 nights in Nikko, which was not long enough, and will definitely return & would love to stay at the cottage again."
