"Buffet was excellent with an enormous array of food. Private onsen was approx ¥3300 for 45minutes. There is quite a lot to do around the local area, we stayed one night but easily could have filled in two days."

"This hotel is a modern hotel and is very clean. We needed to catch a taxi from the station to get there. There is a bus that stops near the hotel but its schedule wasn’t convenient. The common area of the hotel is very welcoming to have breakfast as there is a kitchen for guests to use. There is a small shop in the corner of reception to buy food. "

"Thank you Nikko Hoshinoyado- we had a wonderful Japanese experience in Nikko and at the hotel. We are sorry we don’t speak Japanese, and that made little things challenging a bit. We wish we knew that for a best experience we should have booked dinner at the hotel because we did not find a single suitable place to eat within walking distance of the hotel (October 18, 2024). So we did not have dinner that night. Breakfast, on the other hand was fantastic. We also loved the Onsen experience. Arigato Gozaimas! "

"Wonderful greeting to enjoy this beautiful property for a day. The amenities are first rate and meals are clever and service in the restaurant is excellent. Rooms are a little dated but would not prevent me from booking there again."

"Ideal room setup for a family with small kids. The futons can be closed off with the partition allowing for separation between kids and adult. Shower and onsen were spacious and the room came with kitchenette including stove, fridge and microwave. Good location within walking distance of restaurants, stores and some local attractions. "

"We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Ootaki and would definitely return. The hotel is very traditional and gives you a real insight into traditional Japanese culture. Although the staff had limited English, this was not a problem for us and they were incredibly welcoming and helpful. The hotel has lots of freebies as part of their service including combs, hairbrushes, shower caps, razors etc. The onsen was very relaxing and the hotel was clean. "
