Come to Nakanoshima Park to take a break from the constant movement and energy of the city. Nestled on a strip of land between the Dojimagawa and Tosaborigawa Rivers, the park is physically separated from the buildings on either side, making it a beautiful escape location. Explore its shaded walkways, sit on its well-manicured lawns with a drink, or calm your soul with a walk through the peaceful rose garden.
Start your visit by soaking in the calm atmosphere of this 10.6-hectare (26-acre) park. Like an oasis in the centre of the city, the area provides a welcome sight of green grass, ferns and trees among the grey cement and noises of traffic. Join the locals and take your time walking down its tree-lined walkways in quiet reflection.
Explore the two different sections of the park, separated by water, with the western lawns characterized by carefully designed plots and the eastern half being a wide-open lawn surrounded by a circuit path. Walk or ride a bike around this verdant space and breathe in the fresh air.
In the parkās eastern half, grab a coffee or a cold drink at the cafĆ© and stretch out on the well-mown lawns. In spring, be sure to visit the rose garden in bloom, and enjoy the vibrant pinks, yellows, whites and reds that attract so many visitors.
In the western half, take advantage of the big central lawn to play a ball game or lay down a picnic lunch. Enjoy the statue installations and thick trees that populate the area. The park is particularly beautiful at night when lights highlight the trunks of the trees against the buildings behind.
Combine a visit to the park with one of the many great nearby attractions like the Museum of Oriental Ceramics or the Osaka Central Public Hall with its Western-fusion architectural design.
Nakanoshima Public Park is accessible to the east via the Sakai-suji bridge, or to the west via the matsuya-machi-suji walkways.
