"Me and my husband recently stayed here overnight to celebrate a special Birthday. It was a lovely, clean hotel with a great bar and restaurant area. Pros: A lovely looking hotel,clean and inviting. "Excellent concept. Staffless hotel but the rooms were clean and modern and fresh, access was easy, the area felt safe. I wish I’d come up with the idea of buying pubs and turning them into this type of hotel, it’s great. "Very friendly staff. Rooms were small but comfortable and very clean. Good breakfast. No evening meal but plenty of good options (including discounted meal at sister hotel) close by with a short, walk into town past the the cathedral and river. Was noisy when we visited because of a wedding in the function room but the area seems quiet overall so I imagine it would be peaceful during the week or when there was no weekend function taking place. Good value. Would stay again."

"The building is dated back to 18th Century but it has been modernised to meet today's standards with clean rooms, a lovely large comfortable bed, the bathroom water supply was hot, with good shower pressure. Great staff & nice place to stop.

"Our second stay at The Moat House, the staff are wonderful, the rooms are spacious, the are dog friendly. The decor is sympathetic to the period building. A couple of negatives, despite asking for advice I couldn’t get the room warm enough during the night. The hotel is popular for wedding/ birthday events, unfortunately some other residents aren’t as considerate, who let their children run and down the corridor at 1am. That’s not the hotel’s fault but it did mean we didn’t sleep too well. Fortunately the excellent breakfast and service helped to make up it "
