Best Western, Monterey Bay Coastal Trail hotels

"There’s a a lot to love about this place. Fantastic location, easy to walk into town and enjoy Carmel. Staff was great. Very clean inside and out. Rooms have been updated nicely. Loved that there’s a fireplace. The not so nice is that we had some very loud neighbors so didn’t sleep well. But that’s not necessarily property’s fault, and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast, so so. Overall, book it. You will not be disappointed."

"I love the portola! Only place I stay and travel almost monthly down to Monterey. The rooms are always clean, spacious, the beds are very comfy. Partial bay view is a must. Balcony has two chairs nice to enjoy ur coffee on or listen to some wildlife (sea lions). Basically 4 restaurants attached to the hotel, Carmel bakery n coffee inside the hotel. The location is prime! Walk right and head down Alvarado st you got ur breweries and 10-15 restaurants. Go left and you’re on the Monterey pier , 7 restaurants, a bunch of clothes ans candy shops and my favorite whale watching. I do every time and it’s so close to portola. "

"Clean room, friendly staff, slippers and robe provided. Great pricing!!! I would totally come back here. Everything is remodeled & you can’t hear your neighbors unless you’re downstairs you can hear a bit of walking on top but other than that it was a 10/10 stay for us!! "

"Overall, a good clean place. I couldn’t rate staff as we did everything electronically..from check in to check out. We didn’t encounter in person staff. I’m satisfied with my stay. I will stay again. "

"This is a very low budget room . The rooms had black mold in the showers, window seals are full of mold. I thought it would be nicer by the pictures but it was not as nice as they make it seem . I also could hear the upstairs persons every step . So don’t plan on resting well. "

"We arrived at the hotel at 8PM after a long drive with a cranky toddler. We we got there, there was a sign in the door that said "back at 8:35". We had to wait 35 minutes in the parking lot to be able to check in and get our room. Several other guests were waiting outside as well. There was also no soap at the sink to wash your hands so we had to use body soap from in the shower. The room itself was okay, nothing terrible. Clean enough. "

"There was a water stain on the bathroom ceiling, and the window cushion was very worn. Other than that, very clean and staff was great! "

"We had a king harbor view. The view was beautiful. We were on floor 2 and could hear the people above us, but had a sound machine we brought with us so it wasn't too bad. First breakfast the coffee was luke warm, "pastry" was a dry croissant, it was ok. Second day, fruit was much better and coffee was hot. It was hard to get in the hot tub, even later at night. Overall, a good stay. "
