"Ecofriendly dive resort. Great location for diving and snorkelling (but not for walking around to explore North Sulawesi - needed to drive other places). 20min boat ride to the "house reef" wall around Bunaken. For an inexperienced diver, the guides were patient and helpful, and took great photos of turtles & marine life for me. The cook was very obliging, although took a while for them to understand "gluten free" for my friends who were travelling with me. The Dutch owner, Simone, was...

"The accommodation was nice, as were the Dutch owners. The problems for me were that I was a solo traveller and also the only guest. So it was a bit lonely. Also, Tongkaina is very quiet. Lunch was not included and the only options in the village seemed to be a couple of dirt-floored warungs. The third thing was that, if you are a snorkeller, it makes more sense to stay on Bunaken, cos the Grand Luley boats take you to Bunaken anyway."
