"This is a beautiful traditional hotel with lots of memorabilia from famous people who have stayed there. It is spacious and comfortable with many choices of restaurants serving a variety of foods. The only downside is in wet weather many outdoor tables/seating aren’t usable. We particularly enjoyed the high tea and watching the criminal lowering of the flag at dusk. All staff members are courteous and friendly."

Walkable distance to Galle Face beach. We did not opt for the Breakfast choice while booking. Upon enquiring at the reception, we were told it costed 4K LKR per head, which we felt is pretty expensive. "

"We stayed for two nights. ALL of the staff are BRILLIANT and looked after us really well. The room was spacious and the rain-shower incredible… probably the best I’ve had. The on-site Indian restaurant was excellent as was breakfast. Easy to walk around the area and just 5 minutes to Park Street for loads of good dining options. Wholeheartedly recommend Taj Samudra. "Whilst in bed,at 11 pm a tour group arrived on my fllor,they were all extremely noisey and showed no consideration to sleeping guests.I had booked a 2 am wake up call but was woken by this group at 11,i opened my door twice...to confront them..at 11.15 and again at 11.50 when i raised my voice to them all..it was unneccessary as management should of requested and quieter transition to their rooms when thay checked in.."
