"The staff were ever so helpful. A lot of the staff spoke multiple languages, which helped a lot. (I am only English speaking) Catered for gluten free and offered oat and soya milk. Fully stocked fridge with beer, water and soft drinks. 5 mins walk from the highstreet. 20 min walk to vitra museum. Only rated 4/5 for condition because there was ongoing maintenance which I wasn’t aware of. However this didn’t disrupt our stay. The room was perfect and breakfast was great. "

"We had a fantastic stay in our double room. The building is incredible, a real marvel to stay in. The room was spacious and spotless, with a comfortable bed and nice warm high pressure shower. There is busy traffic outside but, as suggested in the room itself, we enjoyed sitting and watching it go by and were undisturbed by any noise. The blackout curtains also blocked any light out. "Traveling from Canada, we found Basel to be quite expensive. That said, Royal Hotel provided really good value for money. It was professionally run, the self check-in was easy, and being across the street from transit was very convenient. The unit was small, but very clean and as advertised. There were 5 of us (two adults and three teen children) and had a good sleep. It was nice to have a (small) work area too. We'd stay again! "

"The property appears a little dated but that may be its attraction for some. My room was on the top (second) floor but there is no lift and that’s awkward with luggage. Breakfast finished too early for me to take advantage of it. The en suite shower room was a very good, spacious room. The bed was adequate but not luxurious. I thought I’d booked a hotel in Switzerland but it turned out to be in Germany! Check out the border positions before you book.😁"

"Great location - very easy to either walk or take a tram. The apartment was clean and in good nick. Kitchen had enough equipment and was clean. Although the websit said they would clean only once a week, the cleaners came everyday with new towels and tidyed up. The apartment we had faced the main road and as it was HOT, we were exposed to the noise of the street when the windows were open. Definitely a good place. "

"Quiet, comfortable apartment conveniently located. Access to all the sites in Basel are easily accessable, either on foot or using the trams stops just steps away. The apartment was spacious and included all the necessary amenities. We particularly appreciated the in-suite laundry after being on the road for some time. Check-in was easy and the staff were very nice and extremely helpful. As eating out in Basel can quickly add up in cost, the kitchen and nearby grocery store were convenient....

"The location was great, the windows of the room was not adequate. Only one of 3 windows could be open and when you open thw window /thwre was no acxess to walk from the bed. The AC was none existance and on 49F temp evening the room was 73F inside! They switch us to another room at 11pm, but temp was probably 70f blowing hot air . Their Wify was Very Slow!"

"The hotel is in an excellent location for travel in and out of Basel Bahnhof, and walking around central Basel. Service and the buffet breakfast are both very good. I had a cosy single room with thick window glazing to block most noise from the street below. I did not experience internal noise from other guests and slept well. The choice of eating options at the hotel and in it’s immediate vicinity is limited but there are great cafes and restaurants a short tram ride or a 10 minute away."

"I have stayed at this property more than ten times, and it has been a good experience which is why I have returned. On this last visit, however, I booked the Queen large apartment expecting the best stay, but reality was the complete opposite. The unit was not cleaned well, it was missing cooking equipment, and the one piece of cookware it did have was uncleaned with burned cheese stuck to the inside."
