"Overall excellent for our 8 and 5 yr old grandkids. The water slides, splash park and lagoon were all good although we did expect a bucket at the splash park. The park was busy but the queues were very short compared to some other resorts. Staff were super friendly and helpful. The cafe was ok and we loved the happy hour each day. One negative… the aircons struggled and took a long time to cool the cabin."

"Awesome location, generous size room. Also, didn’t really appreciate the strict rules about taking your own rubbish downstairs at the end of the stay. It’s fine that there was no cleaning during stay but couldn’t the person cleaning the room at the end of the stay put the rubbish out? Overall I though the room was good value for money - except the bathroom was not just mouldy (the tile and shower floor and walls) but there was a strange “vacuum” created when in shower stall itself which...

"Clean enough - there was dust on top of fridge and under bed (it moved). Overall it was clean and good location. Didn’t appreciate we had to take the garbage out and put in the chute - wish it was known. Furniture was dated could use an upgrade. Better coffee instead of just powdered. Maybe a bottled waters when people arrive. And WiFi range was not great in bedroom. I would still recommend this - we were staying in some 5 star properties before getting here - hence my expectation was higher....

"Great accommodation in a good location around the corner from the main Esplanade. We stayed in an apartment which had everything you could need including laundry, kitchen with double fridge. The bedrooms are very small but with a seperate lounge area, this was fine. The only issue was that the ensuite shower had no hot water, even after running it for 10 min but there was a second bathroom in our 2 bedroom apartment, so we just used the other shower. "

End of Year Escape to Cairns

"Excellent hotel, great location. 10 minutes from the airport So close to many quality dining options. As well as the night markets, main shopping precinct. Pool is great. Our 3rd trip to Cairns, 2nd time staying at the Shangri La and would again. Highly recommend."
