"This was the perfect location for our stay. We were a 1 mile drive from Magic Sands Beach and 1 mile drive to local shopping, dinning and entertainment! While we chose to drive everywhere, the location is totally walkable to all the attractions. Also, before booking I read reviews, and apparently other condos do not have AC. This one DOES have AC. "Ocean view. Great view of the ocean, loved the gentle sound of the surf. Close to shopping and Kona nearby. Unit needs mild upkeep but nothing serious. "

"Property itself was very nice but the unit was older and was in need of some updates and repairs; cupboard doors did not close properly, stains and tears on sectional, ice maker broken on fridge etc… Also found nail clippings on the bathroom floor. Minor things, the pools and grounds were very nice though and we spent more time outside anyways."

"The location was excellent. You could walk out to multiple shopping and dining options. Our unit was well furnished in kitchen and beach acutriments. The bed was not comfortable. And putting a sqishy piece of foam on a mediocre matress does not help. Sheets and coverings lumped up and slid around. And a small item, but for this price you shouldnt need to but TP. But overall we liked it. Beach chairs, coolers, swim fins, beach towels all there."

"The property is nicely located within walking distance of dining and shopping. The room was nice and the bed was comfortable. The ocean side of the building had a distant view of the ocean, but directly below the balcony were ugly storage containers and large waste bin. Maybe there wasnt anywhere else to put them, but there was no attempt to hide them or beautify the view. Otherwise everything was nice. "

"The resort is beautiful on the ocean. The staff are fantastic and friendly. Originally we booked a “resort view” which was actually a parking lot view. Very disappointing. We talked to the staff and they confirmed that resort view is a view of the parking lot. We upgraded to an ocean view and couldn’t be happier. I only wish it was clear when booking what we were getting when we reserved a “resort view”. "

"We found The Big Island Rereat to be just as good as the pictures! It was easy to find right off Ali'i drive. Check in and out were both very easy. We stayed in the Ocean View room which was just as advertised. There is no AC which is in the room description so there was no surprise. Ceiling fan and to other larger standing fans kept the air moving through the room. There is a common area which has beach chairs to use and some snorkel gear and boogie boards as well and an outdoor kitchen with 2 BBQs and full sized fridge for anyone there can use The only challenge on the property was the parking. There is enough parking for the rooms, it's just a little tight especially if you wnat to back-in. I would suggest Not renting a large SUV. Overall the facility worked out perfecly for our vacation."

Kona Palace Get-Away

"We loved our stay at the Kona Palace. The house is well maintained and beautifully furnished. Rebecca and her husband her very warm and welcoming. The breakfasts prepared by Rebecca each morning are delicious and feature fruits, as well as jams and preservers, all of from their own garden. We were introduced to the "soursop" fruit dueing our stay therem which was very tasty.The terracew where breakfast is served offers a breathtaking view of Kealekekua Bay. This is such a quiet and peaceful area, a real departure from the hustle and bustle of Kailua-Kona. There are a few local restaurants as well as local beaches and snorkeling spots. If you want to truly get away from it all, this is the place! We thorougly enjoyed out stay at Kona Palace and look forward to returning."

"Great rooms, amazing property, owners are friendly, breakfast was better than most restaurants. It's nice and quiet, apart from the frogs and the roosters but you get used to that. Will stay here again if I ever get the chance to come back to Kona!"
