"The Bartizan's rooms were spacious and clean. The bathroom was gorgeous. The breakfast was generous, and we were given a packed breakfast on the day we left early. The staff were very attentive. It is located on the coast and walkable to loads of shops and restaurants. It was our favourite hotel in the two weeks we spent in Sri Lanka. "

It’s excellently located for exploring the fort and the building is beautifully preserved and offers excellent and spacious accommodation. We loved the room with a garden balcony, as we could watch and hear the world go by from the comfort of our room. The staff are so kind and offer many great tips for places to see inside the fort and were always in hand to make our stay extra special. Breakfast is very sizeable with many options. "This is a lovely historic house presented with style and charm, and high standards. The staff provide the best service and are very attentive. Setting is just gorgeous with visiting shy groups of purple-faced leaf monkeys and peacocks passing through along the high walls and trees from time as you sit in the cool palm filled courtyards. And added, an excellent menu with both traditional and modern mix so well presented and tasty served in a lovely restaurant-bar setting on the deep verandahs. "

"The hotel has character but it is very basic. Breakfast is not available. There is no restaurant. The wifi mostly did not work. There was a complex device for showers that did not work properly and flooded the bathroom. The towels had seen better days. There was no TV. The room was not serviced in the three days I stayed in Galle. On the positive side, the location on Church St was excellent, the AC and fan both worked, there was a small fridge, and there was a pleasant balcony with chairs. The cost was about the same as the Ramada in Colombo, but there was no comparison in terms of comfort or amenities. I had completely the wrong impression of this very small hotel from the Expedia description."
