Property is very close to train station, airport, bus stops, grocery shopping, charming bakery and coffee shop, hair salons, knitting shops, charming tea and cakes shop, lots of parks, friendly people, bookstore — and many many oak trees.

The breakfast ( which cost 10 euros) was delicious . The receptionist was very helpful and gave us directions to our destination.

My friends and I didn't stay in the area long, as we arrived just before 10pm, and left 5am the next morning. We just made check-in with 10 minutes to spare, as the doors are locked 10pm with staff on duty. Parking could be an issue as there were limited spaces.

Close to airport.
Great older hotel. Convenient to the airport and public transport. Nice and quiet location. Clean and comfortable room. Airliner theme in room is quaint and interesting. TV stand was an obsolete food cart from an airliner. Also has business class airliner seats in lobby. Staff were friendly and spoke perfect english. Easy check in and out.

Hotel ok. Not too happy about no staff in the building after 10pm, as we were forced to get an expensive cab from the airport, rather than a far cheaper bus in order to arrive by 10pm. Breakfast basic but member of staff barked at me when I said we needed both orange and milk to be replenished. I thought I was helping this person by letting her know!! No apology either. Very unprofessional!! Good pizza takeaway nearby.

Hotel cockpit 2 night stay
An excellent hotel that is very comfortable, accessible, and affordable. Brilliant location for access to the airport and train station for easy access to Hamburg. Staff were friendly and helpful even though I arrived outside of check in times. The only negatives were some airport noise, but I didn’t find this too bad at all, and you should bring your own shampoo etc. I’m visiting Hamburg again soon and will definitely look to stay here again! Thanks guys!

Comfortable & close to airport but useless interne
The Hotel Cockpit was fine in terms of comfort, cleanliness and location. The reason for the low rating was an unusable internet. If you are simply staying the night I would recommend it but if you are a traveller from North America dependent on the internet for communication, trip planning or just to use for entertainment, you will be frustrated.

Great location. 15 minutes walk from airport Great freindly staff But hotel is outdated and my room in the basement did not catch WIFI so I had to be in corridor.

Great for a simple stop over near the airport.
Quirky, reasonably modern place done up with airplane seats and using plane drinks trolleys as furniture - nice. Could still do with some refurb in parts. Staff at Hotel Kochs very efficient in providing key for sister hotel. Reception opens in Hotel Cockpit early morning - and I think breakfast is there (I didn't have it). The one thing that needs clarifying (I had to send urgent emails to find out) is that Hotel Kochs, Mein-hotel and Hotel Cockpit are all linked - and as there is no 24 hour reception at Hotel Cockpit if you turn up after 22.00h you need to pick up the key from Hotel Kochs 500 m away. This was pretty smooth as it is en route. I walked the mile from the airport at night with my luggage and walked back to the airport next morning. Bus 292 would take you there in two stops. Very adequate room with TV. - Bathroom cosy, basic and shower a bit of tiny but forceful spray. Clean bedding. Pizza place downstairs and bar across the road - closed when I arrived.

Nice stopover
We stayed here for the second time. Didn't get the room in the main building with aviation theme instead a room in the basement of the annexed house. It was nice and clean. Only minus was the bed wasn't a double bed there were only 2single beds put together and it had a big gap.

Let me In - if only I Knew the Key was Elsewhere
Arrived by taxi from airport at 22.30. Then found note on door "Reception closed 22.00 - 06.00, please collect key from Kocks Hotel, 500 metres toward town". Quite unacceptable, with no advance warning, to have to face 1000 metre walk, with luggage, to get key. Fortunately the weather was fine, and despite being aged 70 I am not frail. Also I had an online map on my phone to tell me the direction towards town. It is UNACCEPTABLE to have such an arrangement, without it being notified at time of booking. For more frail people, or those with heavy luggage, this would be very distressing. Other solutions, such as a notified key code for the door, and key code secure box inside for the key, are possible. Once inside, the hotel is comfortable and spotlessly clean. The décor is unusual and quirky, but exactly as shown. The bed very comfortable, the television and free wifi good. One other disappointment was that the vending machines only contained chocolate, and high sugar carbonated drinks or water. More options are perfectly possible. On the other hand, next morning the breakfast was good, with a choice of good quality cheese, meats, fruit compote and yoghurts, and excellent warm rolls. Good value for money, and a reasonable walk to the Ubahn. A good choice for a short stay, if only you can get in.

Don't arrive late!
I arrived at Hotel Cockpit and found a note on the door that the reception is closed after 10 pm - and I had to walk to another hotel 650m away to pick up the key. This was not indicated in the reservation anywhere! Plus, they had booked me in a smoking room - when my reservation was for non-smoking. I was given a non-smoking room in the other hotel, luckily. Really terrible service, particularly for an airport hotel, where convenience is key.

Disappointing response to issues at this hotel
Booked this hotel after visiting my daughter in Germany. Checking in was straight-forward. Internet was free, and worked. The moment your phone or PC goes to sleep however - it's necessary to sign in once again - scratching around to find the un and pw. The TV didn't work and had a small local aerial plugged into the rear. Sadly, this failed to get a single good signal on any channel . . . No hot water the following morning. When calling to reception to ask about this, was advised that someone would look at it. It required several more questions to understand that 'looking at' did not mean immediately. Apparently, the entire hotel had no hot water. It was 2 degrees outside . . . so not good. I remained at the hotel after checking out, until 1pm . . . . no engineer arrived to look at the water situation - giving the impression that perhaps there was no hot water in order to save money . . . It may be unfair, but this was definitely the impression. Sadly, the reception staff remained unapologetic. Maybe I'm different to most people but I like to shower before I have to travel for many hours . . . Overall, if the water was working, this hotel is a reasonable place to stay. Parking is tight. I was OK as there weren't many residents. I wouldn't even care too much about the TV. The room was clean, and you felt it too. I wouldn't recommend this hotel simply because I could not be confident in problems being resolved if they occurred as staff seem unapologetic . . .

Best for early flight schedule. Wifi was not good.
I booked this hotel because I had an early flight schedule. You can reach this hotel by bus, actually the bus will took you off near the hotel. Do not take taxi anyway. But this hotel failed to manage good internet connection which is important to reserve another hotel or check flight schedule. So I had to use my phone by roaming service which takes another $10/day. They can reserve taxi for you. I was asking them to reserve taxi in 3:30am, the taxi was there exactly at the time. Subway station is 10 min away by walk. From the station to city center takes 30 minuts. Some fellow travelers saying that this hotel is noisy, but actually, it was pretty calm during my stay. This hotel is best for early flight schedule anyway.
