"I loved the Seymour Guest House. It felt like home and for my short overnight stay it gave me a taste of Guayaquil I wouldn't have gotten at a fancy hotel. It was clean, comfortable temperature and comfortable bed. A simple breakfast to start the day with apricot juice, my favorite! A short ride to and from the airport. I would stay here again!"

"This hiyel was very hard to find. Almost impossible. The taxi driver from the airport got lost trying to find it. We had to use our phones GPS to find it. We finally found it (after almost an hour of aggravation) and the lady that opened the door spoke NO English and did not even know if we had a reservation. "Staying at Cino Fabiani Guesthouse was one of many pleasant memories of our two nights in Guayaquil. We loved the atmosphere, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the location in the Las Penas neighborhood was super. The guesthouse is furnished in an eclectic and retro style, and the main common room has served as a small theatre in the past, so has the remnants of a stage. "This property is not a common hostal. It doesn’t have a sign outside, it is dark inside (no windows), the check-in was confusing and stressful, and only cash is accepted (no credit cards). The owner keeps the keys at all times so you basically have to ask him to open the doors (main door and room door) every single time you come back from running errands. We didn’t like the oppressive feeling and the lack of privacy and freedom to come and go as we pleased. We get that safety is an issue in this...
