"For two the room was a good size, the shower was spacious and the beds were comfortable. Staff were all really friendly. The continental breakfast was lovely, a good selection of pastries, meats, cheese and cereals. The coffee was decent too. Disappointed on our last morning we were told breakfast opens at 06:15, we waiting to 06:30 and still not open and unfortunately we had to leave for our flight. "Great view from restaurant. Restaurant was expensive and also the in room mini bar. Not a good restaurant for picky eaters. Lots of flies during our visit. Would not recommend rooms facing the road. Odd electrical outlets requiring a specific plug. Yes, it’s the 240 European outlet, but the round plug doesn’t fit. It must be the slim two prong plug. Hotel shares parking lot with gas station and car dealership but didn’t have a problem parking. What the hotel lacked the scenery made up for. "

"Brilliant location and wonderful house. Welcome was bordering on rude, however, and booked room was "not available because of an error". Staff was not very solution-oriented. The only exception was the very smiling lady who attended the breakfast room."

"We felt welcomed from the moment we walked through the door. The room was comfortable and well appointed. The free breakfast was very European and delicious. Transportation around the city was free to hotel guests and easy to use. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay. "

In a quiet alley in the centre of town

"We were welcomed and checked in warmly by reception. We had also pre-registered online by the welcome email from Hotel Baren. Their staff went the extra mile to provide extra latex pillow and fixed the safe locking error when requested. We booked the Comfort room which faces the back of the surrounding buildings but we figured the view is likely to be due to the different sizes of the room. The hotel escape floor plan showed the rooms were different sizes on the same floor. Hotel was an easy walk from the Bern Station. Many historic sites are within 10 to 15 minutes walk from the hotel. The Saturday market was next to the hotel. A very pleasant stay and would stay again. "
