"This place is impeccable. In spite of it being in an historic building it has been lovingly maintained. Our triple room had an enormous bedroom with twin sinks. The beds were in separate rooms and there were original paintings on the walls. Breakfast was very good. Stay there if you’re in the area."

"Our stay at the hotel was perfect from start to finish. The owners are super friendly and offered plenty of advice about the surrounding area, and tips on recommended places to visit. The attention to detail on the decor of the whole property gives a truly comforting & relaxed feel. The hotel is in a great location within a short 5-10 minute walk in to Chinon centre. I would highly recommend this property."

"A lovely small hotel with bar only 10 mins walk from the centre .Although no food allowed in the room. There is a pleasant covered area at the back of the hotel where we picnicked both days. The rooms are practical and clean."

"Very comfortable little apartment in the heart of Chinon. Short walk to the grocery store and excellent restaurants. The apartment was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed for our 4 night stay! Loved it!"

"Absolutely spectacular. We really enjoyed our time at Chateau de Candes. Bertrand and Sam went out of their way to ensure that our stay was as comfortable as possible. Running this place is not easy but the family are doing their absolute best as custodians. They are fully dedicated and committed to making Chateau de Candes a success. Merci Bertrand et Sam. Unmissable, unbelievable, untouchable.

"This is truly a little gem. An amazing, tastefully restored period building. It is also the owners home and it shows in all the fine details and attention. The building is amazing, spiral staircase, old fashioned bell pull and giant key locks. The rooms tastefully in keeping with the half timbered style whilst still managing to host all modern amenities. The breakfast selection was outstanding and uniquely informal. All fresh local produce....mmmmm. Best of all was the hospitality of the host Maurice. Oh yeah, dont forget the location, in the middle of a historic town with beautiful bulidings, restaurants, wine cellars, river, castle.... my words don't do it justice I'm afraid. We'll be back as soon as possible"

"Host goes above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable stay. Restaurant recommendations resulted in fabulous culinary experiences: Nimrod and Oceania. Breakfast offered various options supplied with local ingredients. Something different was offered each morning. Parking is limited (street parking) but we always found a place close by. All hotels appear to be similar parking. Highly recommended. "
