"We chose this hotel for its location it was convenient for all our needs.The hotel was quiet and clean and the staff were very pleasant and greeted you when coming or going from the property...it also had a swimming pool but we didnt use it this time .overall the room was clean and comfortable and had a kettle for tea and coffee making and a complimentary bottle of still and sparkling water .We will definitely be staying at the hotel again in the future"

"Pleasant stay at the Shakespeare. A warm welcome by Lee and shown up to our room. Nice large room ( we opted for the family room ). Nice breakfast in the morning. Staff were very nice too!! "

"One of our go to places when up in Kendal for business. Clean & friendly and a good choice of things on the menu. Food is delicious! Only downfall we had was we booked a certain table for dinner one evening and one member of staff had moved us and was quite rude about it! Original table was empty the whole time we were in the restaurant! Wouldn’t have minded if she had been polite and explained why the move had been made!"

"This was a perfect get away , so peaceful . We stayed in stable 1 , two adults and our dog. Lovely comfy beds and pillows, duvet. Enough room for shorter stay. Everything was catered for . We had a lovely fire pit and BBQ outside the stable which we used . Views are amazing . Lovely pub a short walk down the road called the Punch Bowl , lovely food, wines, staff were so friendly . You’ll need a torch to walk home if it’s dark which we had been told about . Situated perfectly for getting to main...

"It was very quiet when i stayed in December, well out of season. But the staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast was excellent. As it was so quiet, the bar wasnt open but there are good pubs a few steps away. I would stay here again quite happily. "

"Step inside Augill Castle and just let yourself enter an almost Alice in Wonderland world. Feel like a Tudor king having a toilet break on an old fashioned wooden loo. Spot the old fashioned record player in the bathroom. Have breakfast with perfectly mismatched crockery. Be encouraged to explore on your own rather than have a formal tour. "I have been here a few times over many years. It is absolutely at its best now! Stayed in a 'garden' room, which was excellent with a peak at the lake through the trees. The restaurant was a delight with an excellent menu and beautifully prepared food at dinner and breakfast (i loved the kippers). Staff were all exceptional. I'll be back. "
