Experience a vast range of exciting scientific exhibits and interactive displays at the Dundee Science Centre. Formerly known as Sensation, the Dundee Science Centre is focused on the five senses and explores perception through hands-on learning experiences and fun-filled demonstrations. Kids will love exploring the exhibits and watching the live shows. There’s plenty for grownups to discover, too.
Find out about the five senses: touch, taste, smell, sight and sound. Crawl through a giant nose and see the receptors for smell up close. Attend a talk on how ears work or visit Roborealm to meet the museum’s collection of robots and put their artificial intelligence to the test. Head to the planetarium to watch the Looking for Life show or soar through the solar system. Kids can also play on the MindBall exhibit, where they are challenged to push a ball using the power of their minds. At other exhibits, “transform” into an ape or learn about insects, forensic science and the human body.
Reenergize with a visit to the Infusion Coffee Shop, which serves drinks, snacks and meals throughout the day. Enjoy a cup of coffee and sit back while the kids explore new parts of the museum. The Dundee Science Centre gift shop is stocked with plenty of exciting toys, puzzles, gizmos and books to keep children entertained for hours, as well as a selection of musical instruments.
Check out the schedule for events and festivals at the science centre during your visit. Attend the Dundee Science Festival in November or special demonstrations about the senses, the natural sciences and the cosmos.
The Dundee Science Centre is centrally located adjacent to the Nethergate shopping district and Dundee’s main train station. The museum is open 7 days a week. Ticket prices cover admission to the museum and daily talks, shows and screenings. Some events may incur an additional cost. Put aside 2 or 3 hours to fully explore the science museum. Use the metered parking available at parking lots on the surrounding streets.
