Stay in Oregon’s only inner-city campground and embark on wildlife kayak tours on the lake among ducks and bald eagles.

The Devil’s Lake State Recreation Area is a vast park comprising a campground on the scenic shores of its namesake lake. With kayak tours of the area and many watersports activities, the site is ideal for a day out with the family. Snap photos of the undulating hills of the scenic surroundings reflected on the water.

Go swimming with family and friends and enjoy the picturesque views of the forests and hills that loom over the lake. Rent a kayak provided by the park to take advantage of the dry, warm weather in July and August. The rest of the year is fairly rainy in this part of Oregon. Take a wildlife tour of the lake. These are scheduled throughout the summer.

Try waterskiing for a thrilling time with friends. Consider bringing your own personal watercraft for a relaxing time here. Spot ducks and loons on the lake and gaze up at graceful bald eagles. Lay down a blanket on the shore and enjoy a picnic with an excellent view of the water.

Stay overnight at the campground on the western side of the lake. It has spaces for RVs, tents and yurts, which are domed tents with wooden doors, heating and other modern appliances. It is the only Oregon Coast campground located within a city.

The lake is about 3 miles (5 kilometers) long and 0.75 miles (1.2 kilometers) wide. Note that the satanic name comes from Native American lore about a giant fish that would occasionally surface.

Walk north from the central part of Lincoln City for 1 mile (1.6 kilometers) to reach the Devil’s Lake State Recreation Area. It is on the southwestern corner of Devil’s Lake in northwestern Oregon. Go to other attractions in the vicinity, such as the Chinook Winds Casino Resort, Kirtsis Park and the Connie Hansen Garden.
