"I enjoyed staying here, but there are some things that can be improved. The air filter in the bathroom had not been cleared in a really long time, if ever. No one has dusted behind the TV in quite some time. I stayed for two weeks, but was only given 1 role of toilet paper and a meager amount of dish soap. The lighting outside is very dim and I was worried about slipping when come back in the evening when it had rained. It would also be helpful to have instructions in English for the appliances....

"This property has no staff onsite. So you have no ability to leave luggage before check in or after checkout, so you have to use the lockers at the train station. Email on entry was confusing and required a call. I observed similar struggles with other guests. Checkin is all via keypad.
Room was a nice size, had a kitchen, and sitting area (cushions were stained).
Location to the train station was nice, but it is not bar any hot springs or other attractions. "

"Great location if you’re visiting Hyotan Onsen etc.
En-suite showers are a little small, and the hot water isn’t very hot (which is strange for a hotel with a hot spring). Not a big deal though because you could just go downstairs and shower in the on site hot spring.
The Rooms had a great view of the city and the sea.
Overall pretty decent place."

"Very special property that we loved. We stayed in January and esp loved the onsen and subfloor heating. Check in was easy enough because there was the option of online pre-registration. The road to the house was windy but not too bad - note that the GPS in the rental car may not show you the way. We used Google maps and got there without difficulty. We were thankful to have a 4WD and snow tires, because there was ice on parts of the road. Highly recommend the place!"

"Great property. The available amenities (two onsite Olsen, one indoor and one outdoor, full size kitchen) are worth the price. Had a little hiccup when trying to find the property, but owner will provide instructions to get to the property and parking. Just need to make sure you pay attention to the pictures on the instructions. "

• this was by far my worst experience in Japan during my one month stay. When I booked (one day before my planned check-in), the manager demanded to know at what time I was planning to check in. I was surprised but happily obliged and gave him/her the precise time (4 pm). The check-in happens in another place (15 min away by foot) which is a guesthouse. I went there by 4 pm and found no one (even though it is mentioned everywhere that check-in time is between 4 pm...

"Me and my family had a wonderful stay at this luxurious hotel.
The room even exceeded our expectations. Everything was clean and well-maintained and hotel staff was extremely welcoming, kind and polite and we felt like honored guests the whole time.
We could even see the Kamado Jigoku from our bedroom window and from our garden, we also had a great view of the city and was greeted with an extremely beautiful sunrise each morning!
The cuisine dinners we had at the restaurants were also fantastic and one of the best we had in Japan!
We cannot praise this hotel enough and highly recommend it to anyone who is seeking to visit Beppu and its neighboring towns and cities."

"Ease of access from train station. Room was big, the biggest one for our 15 nights trip in Japan. Sound proof was great as couldn't hear anything from the train tracks despite the distance. Breakfast was great. Wife loves the onsen facility. Highly recommended and will definitely be staying here in future trip!"

"The breakfast was simple and nice. It was a good way to kick start our morning. My girl totally enjoyed the breakfast. The room was spacious and clean. We love the laundry room at level 2. Life saving.

"Nice property just off the main street, near train station. It is pet friendly with 3 resident cats roaming around the lobby. You get to book 2 sessions at the baths after checked in, the semi open bath on the 2nd level is popular, while the rooftop bath may not be a good idea in cold weather although the view is great. You get free use of the bicycles for your stay. There is no lift so you have to carry your luggages up and down the stairs."
