"We had a difficult time with checking in. At first we could not find anyone or even the front desk. The instructions say to go to the front desk but it was closed even though we were within the open hours. We didn’t get great instructions when checking in and had trouble with the locks. The property is stunning but a long way from any amenities. Not walkable to any restaurants. "It was a very good experience a hotel des roches. We loved the staff in particular. The rooms needs to be updated but overall the location is so special with a great view and central location that we didn’t care. Probably the best stay we had during our trip in the Loire valley."

"This is a very unique property - a chateau built on the front of a cave. Talk about wine storage! The property has incredible potential, the chateau has remarkable old details that will be restored and the new owners are working hard to bring it up to 4-star status. "The picture did not do this hotel justice. It was much more charming. We had the seven course dinner in the hotel restaurant and it was delightful, artfully presented, wonderfully served, and in a great setting. We stumbled across this hotel when travel delays changed pur plans and we had to find a room fast. It was a great find on Expedia and one of the lodging highlights of our two weeks in France."

"What an incredible coincidence! We stayed at this same hotel in the same room 8 years ago! Last time, the little bed in the corner wasn’t necessary for a couple, but this time we came with our 2 year old son who loved sleeping in his first real bed! The new indoor pool is a luxurious addition since our 2016 stay and this time we splurged for the in-room breakfast, which was so copious and delicious that we haven’t been hungry for the rest of the day! More than worth the additional charge! "

"Stop looking - stay here! The staff was kind and helpful and the property and chateau are gorgeous. One of the favorite places we've ever stayed. Take advantage of a wonderful dinner there or they also have good recommendations for local places to dine and visit. Highly, highly recommended."
