"We loved it! It was so classy and regal and elegant. It is an amazing old mansion that has been converted into a hotel and modernized in very tasteful ways. It is on a large beautiful property along the river. On the property they also have the largest clay pigeon shooting range in the country I believe. And they also offer fishing and ATV riding. But other than that beautiful hotel, can see the water feature in reception and a beautiful back garden where you can see the stream. The hotel has a lot of interesting history. "The restaurant and the staff in the country house, were very good, but Hotels.com was, I think, deceptive about the accomodations. Pictures on Hotels.com all showed the impressive looking country house building, but what we actually slept in, was the "Sportsman's Lodge", which was actually, one of many small cabins on the estate; like in Butlins or Hi-de-Hi minus the knobbly knees contests, etc. The "Sportsman's Lodge" cabins were adequate, but pretty basic, and were a disappointment, thinking...

"Stayed for 1 night en route to highlands. Easy to find and plenty parking. Room fine, huge bed, clean and tidy. Pillows a bit soft but that’s just preference. Small grassed area at side of hotel for pooch. Pub next door serves food which saved going into town as we arrived a bit later. Bus available into town or a short walk.
