Admire the outstanding and innovative architecture of this beautiful building and then venture inside for art exhibitions, movies and theatrical performances.

The Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil (Bank of Brazil Cultural Centre) is Brasília’s artistic hub, with art galleries, theatres and a cinema. Watch original plays and musicals, see some experimental art and stroll around the sculpture gardens of one of Brazil’s most popular cultural venues.

The centre is known locally as CCBB and is housed in a striking looking building. Before going inside, spend a few moments to appreciate its design. The curving two-story structure by Brazilian artist Alba Rabelo Cunha sits on stilts and features large rectangular window frames.

The Bank of Brazil Cultural Centre doesn’t keep a permanent collection of artistic works. Instead, it features an ever-changing roster of temporary exhibitions. Many of the works are often new and experimental. While you are here, see what's on at the cinema. You may catch independent Brazilian films or retrospectives of the careers of directors and actors from several countries, including the United States.

Reserve tickets for a play or a musical. To find out what's on during your time in Brasília, visit the cultural centre's official website. There is plenty of information about current performances and exhibitions. After your visit, walk through the landscaped grounds and study the works of art in the sculpture gardens.

The cultural attraction is open from Wednesday to Monday. There are charges for the theatres and cinema, with half-price discounts for students and seniors over 60 years of age. Access to the visual arts exhibitions is free. Among the facilities here are a café and a bookstore.

The Bank of Brazil Cultural Centre is situated next to the Juscelino Kubitschek Bridge. Arrive by taxi or free shuttle bus that operates from several locations in the city, including the National Theatre and the National Library. The timetable and pickup stops are published on the centre's website. If coming by car, parking in the on-site lot is free.
