I love staying at the Fox Hotel in Banff! The staff are always great, and I love having Chili's to start your night out. The grotto is the perfect way to relax and recoup after a day out. They're always accommodating, and I wouldn’t stay anywhere else when I’m in Banff.

Although the room itself was nice and clean the walkways to the rooms were dirty at least the walkway outside from the main building to our room was dirty, and there were a few cigarette butts along the way. Make sure you read the fine print about your room amenities, the room we booked originally didn’t even have a fridge. Staying 2 nights we wanted a room with a fridge so we had to upgrade for $40 more per night and it was totally worth it! The room had 2 floors, upstairs was the sitting area with a couch the pulls out, kitchen table and 4 chairs, sink, mini fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle, coffee maker, plates, forks, knives, cutting board, dish towels and dish soap etc. downstairs was the bathroom and 2 beds. Overall we were impressed and would definitely come back.

I should have done more research. It was a decent hotel for the cost, I suppose. Having to walk kids back from the pool when all the rooms are outside was very not fun in the single digit temperatures (Fahrenheit). It was also quite hard with a 2yo and 5yo having the one-bedroom suite be a two-floor suite. My 2yo actually fell down the stairs at one point, which was terrifying, and there was no gate. The other (nit-picky) comment I’d make… it’s been a loooong time since I stayed anywhere without smart TVs where I could at least log into my Netflix and let my kids watch their shows. There were two kids channels on the TV, and while we didn’t go to Banff to watch TV, little kids also need downtime, and smart TVs would have been appreciated.

What a perfect weekend. A MUST STAY. I regret not staying here years sooner. 11 stars, chic hotel, modern bar, grotto hot tub. Room was super cozy, like someone turned up the heater right before we walked in (Jan 18th, -17oC). Room was super clean too, down to the last water drop being polished away from the faucets. Only a 10 min walk to downtown was shorter than we expected, so many interesting hotel lobbies and an outdoor patio bar to stop at on the walk to downtown. Quiet rooms too, with the BEST, well stocked lotions and soaps, Rocky Mountain Soaps of Canmore. Last but not least were the amazingly kind staff that recommended parking and dining options around town that we weren't even aware of, after all these years.
