Independent, Banff hotels

"Highly recommended. Very pleasant mountain lodge vibe, with friendly and helpful staff. On-site restaurant (The Prow) was excellent for breakfast, lunch or dinner. King size bed was very comfortable. Bathroom had a large free-standing bathtub which was a nice surprise. All rooms have wood-burning fireplaces, which can be both good and bad. Romantic, yes, but the first room assigned to us had a strong "campfire" smell from the fireplace, so we asked to change rooms, and the next room was just fine. Guests should be aware that the lodge is in the Tunnel Mountain area, outside of town, which is about a 20 minute walk or 5 minute drive. The lodge is quiet and serene, which suited us, but you cannot step out the door and immediately wander among the endless restaurants and shops of Banff like you can at many other places in town. All depends on what you're looking for in a place to stay."

"Love this hotel! It is on the edge of Banff so away from the large crowds but still totally walkable to the heart of the action (~ 2 km) or you can take free public transit. Lovely rooms- generous in size and the hot pools are SO welcome after a day of hiking. Would def return! ❤️"

"Exactly what we were looking for - staff were immensely helpful (specific shout-out to Petra for her great advice and support figuring out our plans), coffee everyday was terrific (love the emphasis on low/zero waste), hot pools were stunning, room and facilities were lovely and very comfortable.
