"After reading other reviews and looking at pictures, we were very disappointed by our stay here. Upon arrival at the property, we had to wait to be greeted. When We walked into the property, all of the curtains were shut, and it was very dark and had a strange vibe. When we were shown to our room, it was in a bleak state. "After a tiring day travelling and sightseeing The Swiss Residence was a welcome relief. Perched on the hill overlooking Kandy the view was fabulous. After a dip in the pool we sat on the terrace with a cold drink and watched the sun set, truly magical."

"Cute, quaint place in quiet neighborhood but not too far from the action. We got off to a little bit of a rocky start due to a clerical issue with my booking, but they helped resolve it right away and more than made up for it after. I especially enjoyed their dining nook—so peaceful!"

"The stay was good. It is fairly basic but the host was friendly. We had takeaway and ate it at the dining table as there wasn't really facilities to cook.
It's about a 20 minute walk into Kandy, which is uphill on the way home. Also very dark at night to be walking on fairly winding roads."

"Nice friendly staff, good breakfast, location is up a hill around 15min walk to the centre, it is in the jungle so expect the odd ant and spider in the shower lol. Overall good value for money ideal for a short stay."

"It's all new, well decorated and the staff is nice. We had some issues, like realizing too late that we didn't get the room we booked (2 full beds)! Also, as it only as few rooms, the number of staff is reduced so when we wanted to order more food at supper, the cook already left...but overall, we liked our stay there."

"Suite aux excellent commentaires , nous avons réservé 3 nuits a la Villa Nuova, ce fut une agréable surprise !
La guest house est très bien entretenue, très beau jardin et calme .
La chambre et salle de bain sont propres et fonctionnelles.
Mention spéciale pour Alwis (propriétaire) qui est au petit soins pour ses invités.
Il est de très bon conseil et chaleureux.

"Everyone in the staff was so welcoming and helpful. My 87yr old father, who cannot walk more than 10 meters, was with us. The care everyone showed him was remarkable.

"We stayed one night here. It was a nice upgrade from other hotels we have stayed in within Sri Lanka and for a lower price. Nice spacious bathroom, with all toiletries supplied. Nice views from the pool/restaurant area. Really enjoyed the breakfast (not included in price). Walking distance to Kandy lake. Only downside was the limited view which looked into an inside courtyard."

"The room was clean and the facilities OK. Was glad I had bought my own toiletries and there were only 4 coathangers - not enough for two women! Asked for more but not available.

"Staff are absolutely spot on, on the ball, very friendly. The hotel is very clean, rooms have amazing views over the valley. The rooms here were some of my nices on my trip to Sri Lanka. Naughty Monkeys pay a visit occasionally too! Its little put of town but going downhill, ypu can be in the centre of Kandy by walking in 10 mins. Coming back.... get a Tuk tuk! "
