"Receipt from Expedia stated ' check in open 10 am onwards'. Arrived by taxi at 10. Whole place locked up and deserted with sign saying ' back at six'. Found another hotel but el ray was very resistant to refund. Tried hard to keep my money only gave in after heavy pressure from Expedia customer service. In addition hotel is bizarrely located out in a suburban street near to absolutely no amenities....all things considered ASTONISHED this place still in business "

"This is one of the best places I ever stayed at. If you like a rainforest, / jungle setting, then this is by far one of the most peaceful, beautiful areas you could go to. Amazing staff and a overall fantastic experience. I picked it from expedia, and I am very glad I did. The grounds are beyond amazing, with its flora and beautiful pool and cabins. Nothing could have been better and I will be returning soon."

"Truly wonderful place to stay, with lovely staff. Overall very clean but mummified frogs in our room and our friends' room, which management should have removed, even though they were trapped between screen and window."

"The Lodge is beautiful in the middle of a lush jungle area. The rooms are very cozy and the whole structure is perfectly integrated in the environment. Excellent food and most importantly the kindness of all the stuff. Worth staying several days"

"Very unique experience! The restaurant food was amazing and the cabanas are very clean and comfortable. The owner is passionate about her animals and will give you a personal tour of her working farm if desired. A great place to stay!"

Perfectly maintained rain forest paradise

"Every inch of this place is meticulously maintained - the grounds, the pool, the kitchen. Nice, comfortable beds. Marcela and her team are incredibly sweet and helpful. The food is outstanding. Beautiful meals with produce grown on the property, everything made from scratch including yogurts and juices. This was an all-around outstanding experience. "

"All of the staff and Chef Joe were fantastic. All of the food was fantastic and a great variety. Plenty of hot water. Excellent family resort could not ask for a better place to stay. All of the staff were fantastic and went over and above to make sure our stay was fantastic. Whether a couple or family this was an excellent choice for the perfect vacation or getaway. We would definitely recommend this as a place to go for all of our family and friends. Can't wait to go back. "

"My husband and I truly enjoyed our 4 nights at Gumbo Limbo. It’s a nature-lovers paradise, but so much more. Our honeymoon cabana was spacious with a comfortable bed and linens to die for…the bathroom was large and everything was well-appointed and clean. It was luxury jungle living without any pretentiousness. The grounds and pool area are truly exquisite— and though Christine, the host, would say there is so much more they want to do with the property, I would argue at this affordable price point— Gumbo Limbo is absolutely perfect just the way it is. This was our first trip to Belize with our primary goal to experience the amazing Mayan ruins and get a quick taste of the San Ignacio area— we did that and look forward to a return trip (staying at Gumbo Limbo) where we can do a deeper dive into the culture. Thank you, Christine, Jay and staff😊"
