"Second time at La Posada de Don Rodrigo and I would come back again. The place is beautiful with an amazing view to the lake. The staff is extremely nice and always ready and willing to help. They have a lake view restaurant with excellent traditional Guatemalan food. The pool was clean, the patio was also clean and nice to rest on the hammocks. "Very nice small hotel right off the main street. At first it seemed that the location was too busy, but the hotel has a beautiful backyard/garden which makes you forget that you're right in the center. Excellent service! The small harbor (with lanchas servicing the small towns around the lake) just a few minutes walk from the hotel."

"Everything was wonderful. The only thing was we had to leave early (6:30am) on the day we left and were told someone would come help us with our bags but no one came. Usually this would be okay but the stairs were too steep for us with our luggage to do on our own. "

"I love the location and the amenities that this places has to offer. It was easy to schedule a massage or anything you needed with the concierge. The food in the restaurant was delicious and always prepared fresh, and the rooms were breathtaking. I will definitely return soon. "

"Beautiful property and resort. Food and drinks were very good. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Lacking a fitness gym and shuttle to the town. Without the shuttle you have 1 tuk-tuk for the entire hotel guests, or you can walk on a very, very, rugged and hard to walk road, up a steep hill, and down a very steep hill with traffic and no shoulder for safety. "The view and room were gorgeous, the food was fresh, well-prepared and plentiful, and best of all Gaby and Jochen were so warm and inviting (but unobtrusive!) that our stay felt like a trip with old friends. Also, they make a mean rum old fashioned. We highly recommend Picnic for your Lake Atitlan stay!"

"Very charming hotel overlooking the lake. Lovely landscaping made for beautiful outdoor spaces to lie in a hammock, sit by the water, etc. Our room was clean and nice, but the bathroom and sheets could have been better. Breakfast was good - you get some options of traditional Guatemalan, more American style, pancakes, yogurt/granola etc. It is built into the hillside over the lake so there is some walking up and down to get around, but the staff kindly helped us with our luggage. No TVs in our room so would recommend bringing books / a deck of cards. We enjoyed using the free kayaks but were a little disappointed the hot tub was an additional charge. The area is in between San Juan and San Pedro - it's an easy walk into San Juan by a path down by the water, and easy to walk into San Pedro too but it's along a main road without sidewalks. Tuktuks are cheap and easy ways to get around, as are water taxis."
