You’ll join one of our hosts for a dreamy day trip to the tranquil district of Arashiyama. Tucked away at the foot of the Arashiyama Mountains, this enchanting area is home to the world-famous Bamboo Grove. Picture gigantic, green, mythical vibes! Within the winding paths of this forest, you’ll be transported to another time (or maybe place), and feel all your worldly worries slip away as you listen to the breeze rustling through the ancient, green stalks - all but obscuring the sunlight. Immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the area’s mountainous landscape and see the monkeys who also call it home. Naughty little things, they are. Visit some of the most important temples and shrines and explore the riverbanks around the Togetsukyo Bridge. Then venture to the beautifully preserved, traditional Saga-Toriimoto Street and see the renowned Tenryu-ji Temple, as well as smaller sites like Gioji (hidden away in a secluded maple forest that your host will show you). Sample an authentic meal with them at a area eatery that suits your tastes - lunch always seems to roll around eventually.
