What you can expect
Generally my tours start from Molo Audace which offers an incomparable view of Piazza dell'Unità d'Italia. After reaching it, it's time to make a little effort to reach the top of Colle di San Giusto, making stops at the Romanesque church of San Silvestro and the baroque church of Santa Maria Maggiore. Following the traces of the ancient Romans, we will cross the only gate of the ancient city walls known as Arco di Riccardo and then reach the highest point of the hill, from which the view extends over the sea and the Karst. Turning your gaze towards the Castle of San Giusto and the Cathedral of the same name, you can glimpse the remains of a Roman basilica and the Lapidary Garden. We will then set off – finally downhill! – towards the Roman Theatre and then reach the Grand Canal, the heart of Borgo Teresiano, which houses the largest Catholic church in Trieste, Sant'Antonio Taumaturgo, and the splendid Serbian Orthodox church of San Spiridione. The Canal is lined with majestic and elegant neoclassical buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries. We will go to greet the bronze statue of James Joyce positioned on the Red Bridge to conclude the walk in Piazza della Borsa, overlooked by the palace of the same name, the Neptune fountain, various buildings from the Baroque, Art Noveau and rationalist periods Italian, as well as a very original sundial.
