...The Fortress of Bender, situated in the region of Transnistria, has a rich and ancient history. Its origins can be traced back to the medieval era when it served as a significant point of defence and trade. By the 13th century, the Genoese, renowned for their maritime prowess, extended their influence into the area. Their vessels navigated the Dniester River from the Black Sea, reaching Bender from the nearby Fortress of Akkerman (present-day Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi, Ukraine). Over the centuries, the fortress grew in strategic importance, serving as a critical stronghold for various powers. It witnessed numerous battles, sieges, and political changes, reflecting the complex history of the region. Today, the Fortress of Bender stands as a monument to its multifaceted past, attracting historians and visitors intrigued by its enduring legacy.

Military-historical memorial complex The military-historical memorial complex in the city of Bendery was opened on October 7, 2008. It was erected on the site of an old military cemetery, where the remains of many soldiers of the Russian Imperial Army who died in the wars of the 18-20th centuries were laid to rest.

The main park of the republic was built in honour of Catherine the Great. The Sredinnaya fortress was laid in 1792 by the order of the empress, around which the future capital of Pridnestrovie developed over time
