Denis Soria, historian and official tourist guide, will accompany us through the streets of the town of Jovellanos to take a trip to the civil war and question the causes and consequences of the conflict that destroyed the most lives in Asturias throughout the 20th century.
Few people know that Xixón was the most bombed city on the Northern Front. During our visit we will see the main scenes of the war, such as the assault on the Simancas Barracks, we will pass by the Cimavilla air raid shelter, the largest in the city, the headquarters of the War Committee, what the defence was like by the militias popular or the 500 days of bombing by the Condor Legion, Franco's Nazi allied aviation. Likewise, we will also remember the victims of Franco and Republican repression and the situation of refugees and children of war, to end up reliving the last minutes of the Sovereign Council of Asturias and León chaired by an intrepid Belarmino Tomás.
An essential visit to discover an episode in our history that every Xixonian and Xixonian should know. Do you come prepared for war?
