We begin the experience at 8:30 am, in Vila Meã (Amarante), with a “bee breakfast”, where we will taste different types of honey and hive products, among others.
We watched a demonstration, by the beekeeper guide from Casa da Abelha e do Mel, about the fascinating world of the most important insects on the planet - bees. Did you know that this species orients itself by the sun? It's your compass!
We will learn about the different types of hives and how different honey plants give rise to the different characteristics of honey: flavour, colour, aroma, texture… we will learn about the life cycle of bees, and what products bees produce, such as honey, pollen, propolis, beeswax and “bee bread”.
With the appetite that all these products have provided, we will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.
In the afternoon, with our stomachs satisfied, we will dress up as a beekeeper and take a trip to the Casa da Abelha e do Mel apiary located in Vila Meã to open a hive, discovering where the queen is and how the bees work. tirelessly, noticing your behaviour.
At 5:30 pm it's time to end our sweet experience.
