[ KABUKI : Traditional Japanese Theatre Performance / first photo ]
Kabuki is the dramatic theatre which combines music and dance. It is one of Japan’s most typical traditional arts. This performing art contains exciting stories, beautiful scenes and other features that thrill audiences. Throughout its long history spanning hundreds of years, Kabuki has incorporated trends from each successive era, and continues to be a fresh performing art.
There are many things to see and do, such as the characteristic Kabuki performances and the gorgeous costumes.
[ BUNRAKU : Traditional Puppet Performance / second photo ]
Bunraku is one of Japan's representative traditional theatre arts for adults, inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. It is a closely collaborative form which synchronizes narrative recitation, shamisen music and puppetry in performance. Recitation of stories by a narrator letting out his voice with all of his might, the dynamic and delicate sound of the shamisen, and the beautiful movements of the puppets astound the audience.
Featuring this outstanding unique style, Bunraku is praised as very sophisticated puppet theatre arts in the world.
[ HOGAKU : Traditional Japanese Music / third photo ]
Why don't you listen to HOGAKU produced by the National Theatre of Japan, a hall of fame for Japanese classical performing arts?
HOGAKU is Japanese classical music composed on Japanese instruments, and most of the pieces that have been handed down to the present day were composed during the Edo period (1603-1868).
In this concert, we will present four masterpieces composed in Edo (present-day Tokyo) in the late 18th century, when Edo culture was in full bloom.
Why not enjoy the mood of Edo through sound?
[ ZASHIKIMAI : Japanese Traditional Dance / fourth photo ]
Enjoy high quality Japanese classical dance ”Zashikimai” performance at Kenchoji Temple in Kamakura!
For the 13:00 performance, we also offer a set ticket that includes Zashikimai & Zen meditation experience.
Zashikimai is a stage art in which the dancers express the subtle movements of the human heart in unison with the sounds of songs and shamisen music.
In recent years, the Zashikimai has been widely seen on stage, but in the past, it was performed by lighting candlesticks in the tatami room of a house and enjoying the calm dancing in the shadows.
We provide you an unusual experience.
