Join me on a immersion to the Tijuca Forest National Park, the world´s largest urban forest. Explore with a local all the beauty of the forest, visiting ruins, lakes, hidden waterfalls, caves and historial attractions.
We'll meet at Praça Afonso Viseu, in Alto da Boa Vista, where the entrance to the Tijuca Forest is located. Right at the beginning of our walk, we come across the beautiful Cascatinha Taunay, which is 35 metres high, and the most famous waterfall in the Forest.
We will walk uphill along incredible trails, discovering historical sites and exploring the impressive vegetation of the rainforest that creates the park's stunning landscape.
We will walk along the historical circuit and the circuit of the caves, visiting Cachoeira das Almas, “A Floresta” Restaurant. We stop at the waterfalls where we can also bath, relax and have some snacks.
During the journey, we will see many rock formations, streams with crystalline waters and a great diversity of species of flora and fauna of the Park.
Obs.: The trails are easy, but require a minimum of physical preparation since the circuit is long. There are no major difficulties, but it is worth noting that the terrain is varied and irregular, with stones, roots, trunks and the possibility of wet and slippery soil, as usual in the vast majority of trails.
All caves visited are safe and pose no danger to participants.
All waterfalls have clean water.
