What you can expect

Bulgaria is known for its beautiful mountains and fertile plains. Without a doubt, one of the most beautiful and mystical mountains are the Rhodope Mountains in the southwestern part of the country. A place of many Greek legends and myths, and here the legendary Orpheus sang his songs and harp music.
For centuries, the mountain has been home to Bulgarian heroes, freedom fighters, hardworking shepherds. They lived in picturesque villages where they helped each other and lived together.
Today we want to show you one such village with only a few hundred inhabitants, which is far from the noise of the city and is deep in the mountains. The village is called Ravnogor. When we enter it we will go back decades in time. It's like people still live the old way. We will see horse-drawn carts in the yards of houses, old jeeps and trucks that once served in agricultural work. Houses from the late 19th and mid-20th century, but also a few new, luxurious villas of rich people who decided to live here.
The village is surrounded on all sides by green hills covered with pine forests, and the panorama everywhere is simply amazing. Therefore, in 1995, a NASA satellite defined the air above the village as the cleanest on the Balkan Peninsula. And speaking of Panorama, on one of the rocks a little after the village, there is a stage built, from where you can see a huge part of the mountain, as well as the Vača dam, which snakes like a snake between the individual hills and complements the natural beauty of the landscape in a unique way.
