Our sea lion snorkelling excursion is a must on any trip to Puerto Madryn. This activity is only possible in very few places in the world, however the proximity of the sea lions to the shore in Puerto Madryn makes it particularly memorable. The sea lions bob in the water as they wait for us to approach and give us an unforgettable experience.

The tour starts at the meeting point in the centre of Puerto Madryn, where we will meet our guides and instructors. From here, we will board the boat that will take us directly to meet the colony of sea lions. During the navigation, we will be able to enjoy the incredible views of the beach, the cliffs and the city of Puerto Madryn. During the 25 minute trip we will also be able to see numerous types of seabirds and even, depending on the season, whales and dolphins.

We will disembark at a small beach in the Punta Loma Natural Protected Area where we will receive a theoretical instruction about snorkelling technique, flotability and behaviour inside the protected area to understand that we are visitors in the habitat of the animals. And even before we enter the sea, the sea lions might surprise us with their heads very close to the boat, expectantly, looking to find out who will be the first person to enter the water to play with them.

Once we are all fully equipped, we will begin to enter the water and little by little, the sea lions will begin to approach us, almost without fear and with a lot of curiosity. Although we will not be able to touch them, we will be able to observe that they will quickly continue with their usual life around us and include us in their movements. The snorkelling activity will last approximately 45 minutes.

We will return to the coast in the same boat, arriving at the city of Puerto Madryn.
