Head to the Caribbean side of Panama to Portobelo (a world heritage site). We leave the city by 730am to get there around 9am and get geared up and out on the water. We cross the Bay of Portobelo to a little beach and can enjoy snorkelling above the reef, wadding in crystal clear water and looking for some wildlife in the 'jungle'.
Our second snorkel site is a reef wall. Close to shore, the reef is near the surface and the deep blue waters make for a dramatic backdrop for all. Advanced snorkellers can dive down along the wall and explore this underwater world. These are the waters made famous by the tales gold and pirates like Capt. Morgan and Sir Frances Drake Enjoy Panama's Caribbean vibe and catch some rays before we return to the mainland. Rinse off, change your clothes and enjoy lunch by the sea.
Then tour historic Portobelo. Explore an old fort complete with canons! The customs house and museum has finally reopened and its great Plus, we can visit the Iglesia de San Felipe to see the famous Cristo Negro statue before heading back to Panama City.
