Overview

On this scenic tour around the Slea Head Drive we discover and take in astounding vistas and visit historical sites along the way. As well as improving your overall photography and composition with any camera or phone, I’m more than happy to use my own photo skills to take amazing photos of you in the gorgeous backdrop of the Dingle Peninsula.

Simply sit back, relax and enjoy this wonderful tour or if you’re capturing precious moments at the fabulous locations we’re visiting, I’ll provide tips and tuition on how to improve your holiday photography with any camera or phone. All our locations are easy to access with no strenuous walking or climbing!

I’ve been a regular visitor to the Dingle Peninsula throughout my life as my mother was originally from Dingle. I’ve been living here for over 20 years and I have spent the best part of the last 30 years discovering great locations and the best spots to capture the beauty of the area as a local landscape photographer.

Activity itinerary

Slea Head Drive
  • 20m
After meeting in Dingle we follow the Slea Head Drive on a scenic tour of the rural countryside, passing the deep water natural harbour at Ventry and amazing views of the ocean below as we approach our first stop at Slea Head.
Cross at Slea Head
  • 20m
As well as fabulous vistas and photos to capture from this stop, we have the option of strolling along the winding Oceanside road for a few minutes to take in further views and more superb photo opportunities.
Coumeenoole Beach
  • 20m
Coumeenoole Strand is a captivating location for photography or just kicking your shoes off and paddling along the waters edge. With fine views of the rugged coastline available from the beach at low tide or the walk way down to the sands, this is many peoples favourite location during the tour.
Dun Chaoin Pier
  • 20m
The iconic twisting path down to Dunquin Pier is the historical departure point for the settlers on the Great Blasket Island. These days it is used for the tripper boats visiting the island. Superb vistas are to be captured along the paths at the top of the cliff with the option of walking down the steep path to capture photos at lower vantage points.
Dunquin
  • 20m
Following single track lanes we arrive at an amazing rocky beach with access to a coastal path that provides wonderful views across the rugged shoreline, with the Blasket Islands in the background.
Clogher Strand
  • 45m
We stop at Clogher Head on our way to Clogher Strand to take in panoramic views of the western edge of the Dingle Peninsula. This wide open vista also looks across to the filming location of Star Wars during 2016. A few minutes away is the storm beach at Clogher, depending on the state of the tide we can access this scenic beach, as well as capturing wonderful ocean landscapes from the viewing platform above the beach. This area also contains a number of secluded rocky beaches and rugged coves that we access with a short drive.
Gallarus Oratory
  • 30m
Leaving the ocean and the intriguing coastline behind, we take a scenic 15 minute drive to the 8th Century Oratory at Gallarus where we observe and capture this wonderful example of an ancient stone roofed building.
Kilmalkedar Church
  • 20m
The ruin of this 12th century Romanesque church is built on an earlier monastic site and has a unique standing stone with a “needle hole” and ogham script carved down the side. A few yards away is a large cross carved from stone. Close by is St. Brendan s House and also access to excellent views of this church in the rural landscape.
Dingle
  • 15m
Leaving Kilmalkedar Church we have a 15 minute scenic drive back to Dingle and the end of the tour.
