'We’re going to make you an offer you can’t refuse'. Well, this used to be Mafia country, after all. In fact, Hollywood descended on this part of the world to film scenes for the Godfather trilogy, so this tour will take in two Sicilian Mountain villages that made it onto the silver screen and to relive some of the most famous scenes.
Little more than ghost towns, these Sicilian villages are virtually abandoned these days. First up will be little Savoca, where you’ll find the church where Michael Corleone – played by Al Pacino – got married in. You’ll walk in his footsteps as you discover the winding alleyways.
At the renowned Bar Vitelli spotted in the film, you will be able to flavour a refreshing “granita” a local summer speciality and get right in the mood.
After a glorious ride through the countryside, you’ll soon arrive in medieval Forza d’Agro, a small mountain village, where you’ll see the Church of Annunciation, also of Godfather fame. Even if you’re not a fan of the films, the views from these clifftop villages are second to none.
