Cefalù is located on the northern Sicilian coast about 70 km from Palermo, at the foot of a rocky promontory. It is one of the largest seaside resorts in the entire region and, despite its size, attracts a significant flow of local, national and foreign tourists every year. During the summer, the population triples, making the town's main squares and streets crowded. The town, part of the Madonie Park, is included in the club of the most beautiful villages in Italy, the association of small Italian centres that stand out for their great artistic, cultural and historical relevance, the harmony of the urban fabric, liveability and services to citizens. The city's cathedral, included in the site Palermo arabo-normanna and the cathedrals of Cefalù and Monreale, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2015.
Excursion to Cefalù and Castelbuono
Departure from the hotel in Sciacca for the town of Cefalù. The Mandralisca Museum is worth a visit: among the museum's works is the famous Ritratto d'Ignoto, an oil painting from 1465, attributed to Antonello da Messina. Interesting to visit, although difficult to reach, is the Rocca di Cefalù, which offers a splendid panoramic view of the town as well as the remains of the fortification. Here stands the temple of Diana, a polygonal work from the Greek-Archaic period.
