What you can expect

  1. Your flight for a group of not less than 6 and not more than 50 persons land at Cape Town International airport not later than 7 am on the morning on the first day of your tour.
  2. The group is picked-up and transferred in a a less than 2 hour journey in comfortable road transport to your rebooked Aquila Big 5 Safari whilst your luggage is transferred to your overnight Robben Island accommodation.
  3. The group has a pre-packed breakfast on board your transport to enjoy your Safari.
  4. Your Big 5 Safari starts 10 am in the morning and your lunch is served 1pm after which your transfer to Nelson Mandela Gateway V & A Waterfront Cape Town starts - a less than 2 hour journey.
  5. Your ferry to Robben Island departs 4 and/or 5 pm being the last ferry to the island for your tour, dinner, campfire exchange with your tour leader Derrick Grootboom a former political prisoner, Nelson Mandela Scholar and lawyer.
  6. Arriving on Robben Island your tour of the Maximum Security Prison starts 6/7 pm and you get an opportunity to visit Nelson Mandela's prison cell.
  7. Exiting the back of the prison 7/8 pm your walking tour towards your accommodation at the former medium security prison starts.
  8. At your accommodation 8:30pm after a fresh-up and sit-down for dinner and enjoy some Cape Town jazz music.
  9. After your dinner we all gather around the campfire relaxing with excess to a cash bar exchanging our life stories within the context of this human rights tour experience.
  10. 11pm to Midnight is bedtime.
  11. 7 am is rise and shine and breakfast is served at 8 am.
  12. 9 am we return to the harbour on Robben Island for our ferry back to the Waterfront Cape Town where upon arrival we say good bye till next time!
