On this immersive tour, experience the wonder of the Hwaseong Fortress, a gigantic castle-like wall that surrounds the centre of the town of Suwon. Watch in awe during an authentic martial arts performance, and then head to the town of Anseong for a traditional namsadang show of acrobatics.
Your exciting day begins when your guide comes to pick you up at your hotel and transports you to the Hwaseong Fortress for a private tour of this spectacular walled city. Constructed between 1794 and 1796, this UNESCO-listed complex was built to house the remains of Korean royalty. Leave the fortress and head to Muye Dobo Tongji to watch a traditional martial arts display, featuring arts that date back to the Joseon dynasty. During this artistic and athletic performance, learn about the 24 different techniques used by soldiers from centuries past.
Next, make your way to the town of Anseong for a namsadang performance, put on by a travelling troupe of male performers who engage in acrobatics, singing, dancing, and circus tricks. With 6 different acts that include tumbling, puppetry, masks, traditional folk dance, hoop and plate spinning, and tightrope walking, this entertaining display embodies the spirit of local culture. After the show, return to Seoul for some shopping at the Ginseng or Amethyst Centre before being dropped off at your hotel.
