What you can expect

Stroll alongside the enormous stone walls of the Hwaseong Fortress during this private exploration of Korean culture and history. Visit the Korean Folk Village to get an up-close look at how every-day citizens once lived as you watch skilled artisans in their workshops.

After being picked up at your hotel, head to Suwon, where the immense Hwaseong Fortress awaits. This enormous structure was built in the late 1790s to display the King's filial piety towards his deceased father and to showcase a new pioneer city with its own economic power. Follow your guide over the towering castle-like ramparts surrounding the city to get a first-hand understanding of the complex's grand scope.

Then, make your way to the Korean Folk Village, where you can wander around the 260 traditional houses reminiscent of the late Joseon Dynasty. The structures and artefacts found here have been relocated and restored to provide visitors with an understanding of Korean food, clothing, and housing styles of the past.

Stroll around the village as you pass by 20 different workshops that display various handicrafts such as pottery, basket weaving, metallurgy, and embroidery. The customs and lifestyles of past generations have been carefully preserved within this village, creating an authentic visit unlike any other. When it's time to leave, return to Seoul for some shopping at the Ginseng or Amethyst centre before being dropped off at your hotel.
