After meeting your guide at your hotel, go to the river and board a boat headed to the ancient town of Bao Vinh. Visit a market and learn how the area was a key trade centre from the 17th to the 19th century. Get on your bike and travel to Sinh Village to explore the town and find out about traditional woodblock paintings.
Back on your bike, proceed to Thanh Tien, which has been known for more than 300 years for its manufacturing of paper flowers. Your next stop is something special that most visitors do not get to see. Meet Than Van Huy, an artisan, to learn the secrets behind these culturally significant paper creations. The next leg of your journey is aboard a boat on the Perfume River. After a leisurely ride on the fragrant waterway, stop at the Pagoda of the Celestial Lady, a 7-story temple that has become an unofficial symbol of the city.
Next, your bicycle carries you to Thuy Bieu, a town that is famous for its pomelo fruit. Try a taste of this mildly sweet fruit, one of the original, non-hybrid citrus plants. Stroll through the village before joining a cooking class in a local home. Listen closely as your host chef teaches you everything you need to know to prepare a Hue speciality. After you're done cooking, indulge in your own creation, as well as the chef's, to get a real taste of Vietnamese culture. Before heading back to your hotel, close out the day by soaking your tired feet in herb-infused water, a traditional therapeutic practice.
