On entering Pretoria city centre, we visit the historic Church Square with its beautiful buildings and the Kruger Statue. We visit the Melrose House, a three-storey stately Victorian mansion complete with turrets and Dutch gables erected in 1886, which played an important role during the Anglo-Boer Wars. The Voortrekker Monument follows to study the Pioneer history of South Africa and the history of the Afrikaner (Lunch en-route not included). The Union Buildings concludes this rich South African heritage excursion.
