You will be picked up from your hotel and transferred by the Pan-American Highway en route to the South towards Pachacamac. Located thirty minutes from Lima City, this archaeological complex, built in 200 AD, is one of the most important Pre-Inca religious centers on the Peruvian coast. It originally belonged to the Ichma culture (although it was mostly built by the Wari people and subsequently conquered by the Incas); it was a place where Pachacámac, the god who created the world, was worshipped. The religious centre, which houses several temples, operated for centuries until the arrival of the Spaniards, when the fall of the Inca Empire finally started.
The route continues at the traditional Pueblo Libre district, where you visit the Larco Museum, located in a beautifully restored vice-regal mansion built on a pre-Columbian pyramid from the seventh century. The museum boasts a complete pre-Hispanic collection of gold and silver objects, as well as pieces of erotic art.
