What you can expect

Ostia Antica was the first Roman colony, founded in the seventh century BC at the mouth of the River Tiber, and is still today the largest archaeological site on the planet.

Thanks to an expert archaeological guide and impressive graphic reconstructions, you will take a journey back in time to discover the secrets and daily life of the ancient Romans.

You will walk along theDecumanus Maximus, the high street of the city, to admire the splendid mosaics of the Baths of Neptune, the majestic theatre decorated with marble masks and the imposingForum Square, dominated by the Capitolium, a great temple dedicated to the most important gods of Rome: Jupiter, Juno and Minerva.

Finally, you will discover details and curiosities about daily life in ancient times by exploring the insulae (the ancestors of our apartment buildings) and the rich domus(villas) of the patricians, the ancient shops and restaurants (such as the thermopolium, similar to our fast-food restaurants!) and even the public toilets (latrinae)!

Please note that in the winter season the mosaic floors of the archaeological site are covered for preservation reasons, so they are not visible during the visits in winter. Thank you
