What you can expect

Depart in the morning on an adventure that will take you through the colourful history of the Big Island. We begin in historic Keauhou Bay, where Hawaii’s longest-reigning monarch King Kamehameha III was born, and we will share with you stories of old Hawai’i as we travel towards Kealakekua Bay. As you nibble on a tropical plant-based breakfast served with 100-percent Kona coffee, learn about the last battle stand at the Kuamo’o Battlefield and view the Royal Holua Slide, as we journey to Kealakekua Bay. Inside of Kealakekua Bay, the Captain Cook Monument stands tall as a way to commemorate the site in which the celebrated circumnavigator, Captain James Cook, perished in 1779.

The Fair Wind II is a custom and spacious 60-foot catamaran with two on-board bathrooms, plenty of shade, two water-slides, and a high dive platform. The vessel is outfitted with everything you need for a perfect family adventure. Gear, floatation, and reef-safe sun cream are provided. Sit back, relax, and take in the beauty of the only underwater state park in Hawaii while listening to the captain share stories about the significance of this bay as both a sacred ancient site and the location where Captain James Cook was killed. The calm, crystal-clear water provides you with the perfect opportunity to discover the transcendent beauty of the undersea world.

Feel the rush as you plummet down a 15-foot (4.5-m) waterslide into the sea, where you can swim and snorkel in the warm embrace of the Pacific. Spot sea turtles, spinner dolphins, schools of colourful fish, and—if the season's right—whales. Even if you decide to lounge on the deck, the scenic bay and the Captain Cook monument serve as a stunning backdrop for your day of relaxation.

Lunch is served while moored in the bay. Plant-based lunch includes savoury BBQ jackfruit & coleslaw sandwich (pulled pork style), tasty chickpea sandwich (tuna salad style) along with side salads with homemade dressing - save room for homemade cookies after lunch!

If you’re looking to maximise adventure - we recommend upgrading to SNUBA - which allows you to go down deeper and stay down longer than snorkelling. You breathe through a regulator and the air source floats on a raft at the surface and your SNUBA Guide will be with you the entire time.

On the way home, enjoy a complimentary reef-ecology class and learn about some of the amazing critters and creatures that call Kealakekua Bay home.
