What you can expect
The complete itinerary lasts approximately fifty minutes and has a cadence of 60 minutes, starting at the Plaza de la Constitución. Don't forget that you can get on and off as many times as you like. At 13 p.m You will enjoy an olive oil tasting in Paraíso Virgen Extra.
Operative time: From 11:00 to 14:00 in the morning. From 17:00 to 21:00 in the afternoon.
1st stop: Plaza de la Constitución. You will walk along one of the city's main thoroughfares, Avenida de Madrid, where you will see emblematic buildings such as the Bus Station or the Church of Belén and San Roque and a small part of the Parque de la Concordia, passing by El Corte Inglés.
2nd stop: Paseo de la Estación, next to the museums. Between the Museum of Iberian Art and the Museum of Jaén, at the height of the Church of Cristo Rey, you will continue the tour along the Paseo de la Estación.
3rd stop: Plaza de la Audiencia. Starting from the Darymelia municipal theatre, you will begin to walk through the historic centre of Jaén, crossing what used to be called Calle Maestra Baja. You will see the headquarters of the School of Arts and Crafts, the back of the Church of San Juan and the upper part of the Jewish quarter.
4th stop: Arab Baths. At this stop you will discover the largest Arab baths in Spain and the best preserved in Europe. You will then enter the oldest quarter of the city to visit the prestigious Lagarto de Jaén and the primitive church of La Magdalena. From there, you will make a journey in search of the prestigious fortress created under the patron saint of Jaén, Santa Catalina, discovering minute by minute the impressive views of the city and a large part of the province.
5th stop: Santa Catalina Castle. From the top of the Santa Catalina hill, you will retrace your steps to continue the tour discovering the southern part of the city. You will admire its beautiful mountain range and discover the unknown water tanks, until you enter the city again.
6ª parada: Parque del Seminario. Seguirás tu para encontrarte La Catedral de Jaén, una joya renacentista de Andrés de Vandelvira. Antes, recorrerás la conocida calle Carrera de Jesús donde verás el Camarín de Jesús, donde se encuentra la imagen más querida de Jaén, Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno “El Abuelo”. También verás el único lienzo de muralla situado en el interior de la ciudad, el Torreón del Conde de Torralba, el Convento de Santa Teresa y el Palacio de los Vizcondes de Los Villares de Jaén, o el Palacio de los Condes de Corbull.
7ª parada: Catedral de Jaén. La última parada te llevará a atravesar la Plaza de Santa María, aquella que alberga en su interior la Casa Consistorial, el Palacio Episcopal y, por supuesto, la Catedral con su Sagrario Neoclásico anexo al mismo. A continuación, pasarás por delante de lo que, en la actualidad, es el segundo edificio religioso más importante de la ciudad, la Basílica Menor de San Ildefonso.
